Young leggie Mitch Swepson has been included in Australia's Test squad to take on Bangladesh later this month.

Swepson was brought into the 13-man squad to replace spearhead Mitchell Starc.

Starc was ruled out of the series back in June, to rest a lingering foot problem.

It means Australia now has three spinners in the squad, with Nathan Lyon and Ashton Agar already in the mix.

The pace attack will be led by Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and James Pattinson.

Australian selector Trevor Hohns said he was comfortable with the three quicks already named, and didn't feel the need to add another.

"We are comfortable with the fast-bowling stocks we have in the squad so have opted to add an additional spinner given the conditions we are likely to face in Bangladesh," he said.

"Mitchell is a very exciting young leg-spinner who we think will benefit immensely from further experience in the sub-continent."

The two-Test series begins in Mirpur on August 27.
