Australia’s team for the first Ashes Test has leaked, according to Fairfax Media.

The Aussies appear to have made several bombshell selections, with Tim Paine set to take the wicketkeeping glove despite having not kept for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield this season.

The reported side also sees Matt Renshaw dropped for Cameron Bancroft and Shaun Marsh taking the number 6 spot.

Paine appears to have beaten Peter Nevill and state teammate Matthew Wade to the wicketkeeping role, despite having only featured once for Tasmania this season.

In that match, Wade was preferred to Paine as the keeping option.

Paine has not played a Test since 2010 against India in Bengaluru, and has not scored a first class century since October 2006.

Marsh most recently played for Australia in India this year, where he averaged under 19.

His career appeared over when he lost his Cricket Australia contract.
