England all-rounder Ben Stokes has spoken for the first time since he was arrested for his part in a bar brawl in Bristol — although not about the incident itself.

Stokes took to Twitter to apologise for mocking the disabled son of a British model.

Katie Price's son Harvey featured on TV talking about how he responds to bullies mocking his disability, and video of Stokes impersonating him surfaced after the Kiwi-born cricketer's arrest for causing actual bodily harm.

Stokes tweeted a photo of a statement he’d written in the notes section of his phone.

The damage control effort wasn’t enough to stop Stokes losing his contract with his bat sponsor though, with New Balance terminating its contract with the New Zealand born all-rounder.

"New Balance does not condone behaviour by our global athletes that does not match our brand culture and values, and therefore we have ended our relationship with Ben Stokes, effective October 11, 2017," the company said in a statement.

Stokes won’t travel with the rest of the England squad for the Ashes while he waits to see if he will face criminal charges, but has not yet been ruled out of the series.
