Triple M Footy’s Brendan Fevola has unloaded on Australia’s cricket selectors as the hosts struggle badly during their first innings in the first Ashes Test against England at the Gabba.

The Aussies have slumped to 4-76 in reply to the visitors’ first dig of 302 and the modest returns from the likes of debutant Cameron Bancroft (five) and Usman Khwaja (11) seemed to have caught Fevola’s attention the most.

“Australia are heaps good at cricket,” Fev tweeted.

“Maybe put some more Victorians in the side, (they’ve) only won the last 10 (Sheffield) Shields.”

We reckon Fev may be referring to Bushrangers all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who was 150 not out as of 4.15pm AEDT on Friday in the Vics’ Shield clash against New South Wales.

Maxwell was dropped for the first Test in favour of Shaun Marsh.
