Chadd Sayers has dropped some huge news on Dead Set Legends, suggesting he received a text message from former Australian captain Steve Waugh - brother of current selector Mark - wishing him luck on his debut for Australia.

Sayers was named 12th man for the Test match in Adelaide against South Australia late last year, with Jackson Bird pipping him for the final spot in the side.

But the original decision seems to be that Sayers was named to play.

KG backed up the news on Dead Set Legends in Adelaide.

"My mail was that you were told you were gonna play in the Test match in Adelaide, only to be told Jackson Bird is coming in," he said.

"Is that true?"

Sayers suggested the news was true.

"I didn't officially get told (I would play)," he said on Triple M.

"But I did have a text message from a former Australian captain saying 'good luck on your debut'."

KG was certain that text came from Steve Waugh - something Sayers was coy about.

"I think his brother is a selector," Sayers hinted.

KG was filthy.

"That's disgraceful, honestly," he responded.
