The WA State Government has announced that Perth Stadium won't be ready for the Ashes test next summer.

The WACA will host another the match after it was confirmed this morning that the new arena won't be open until January's 28 ODI at the earliest.

CRICKET AUSTRALIA STATEMENT:

Following the WA Government’s announcement that Perth Stadium will not be ready in time for The Ashes, Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland has provided the below audio statement.

The outcome also means that BBL and some WBBL matches will also be played at the WACA for the upcoming season.

Whilst Cricket Australia and the WACA understand there will be a level of disappointment with this news for fans, we know that a Perth Test match at the WACA Ground will still be an enormously anticipated event that will be played in front of capacity crowds.

Details regarding ticket sales timelines and pricing for the Perth fixtures will be announced in due course.

Both Cricket Australia and the WACA remain hopeful that the One-Day International against England, scheduled for 28 January 2018, will be played at the new stadium.  Cricket will continue to work with the WA Government and stadium management to achieve this outcome.
