Disgraced opening batsman David Warner has tweeted an apology for his role in the ball-tampering scandal currently engulfing Australian cricket.

Warner has been fingered as the main culprit in the affair, with Cricket Australia banning him and captain Steve Smith from national and state cricket for 12 months.

Cameron Bancroft, who actually tampered with the ball, has been banned for nine months.

Warner has also been told he’ll never captain Australia again.

The charges levelled at Warner by CA were damning, including accusations that he developed the plan, instructed Cameron Bancroft to exercise it and demonstrated how it should be done.
