Exiled Australian vice-captain David Warner has taken to Twitter to explain why he couldn’t properly answer questions at today’s controversial press conference.

Warner deflected questions about other players’ involvement in the ball-tampering affair and whether it was the first time he’d been involved in it.

Warner has been banned from playing for Australia for 12 months and will never be allowed to hold a leadership position ever again for his role in the ball tampering incident that has also seen captain Steve Smith and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft banned.

Cricket Australia alleges that Warner was the ringleader in the affair.

Warner fronted the press at the Cricket NSW offices today, apologised for his role and took responsibility for his actions.

He also explained that he understands he may never play for Australia again.
