The International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee has proposed a significant change to the Umpire Decision Review System, with teams set to no longer lose their review if an LBW decision goes to umpire’s call.

Under the current system, the review returns a decision of ‘umpire’s call’ if the decision can’t be proved conclusively incorrect or correct.

The reviewing team then loses that referral.

Under the new proposal a return of umpire’s call on an LBW decision would no longer cost a side their review, but the referrals won’t reset at the 80 over mark as they do now.

The committee also recommended that DRS be used in all Twenty20 internationals and that umpires should be given the power to send players off the field for serious disciplinary issues.

The panel also recommended that the third umpire should call all no-balls in international matches using replays.

The ICC Cricket Committee was chaired by ex-Indian spinner Anil Kumble and included such luminaries as Rahul Dravid, Mahela Jayawardene, Tim May and Shaun Pollock.
