England has picked a South African debutant to replace injured quick Craig Overton.

The Poms have replaced Overton with 22-year-old Tom Curran, who was born in Cape Town.

Curran has played a one dayer for the Poms, against the West Indies in June, and three international T20s.

He averages 29.14 with the ball from 51 first class matches.

Curran’s father, Kevin, played over 300 first-class games for over 600 wickets at 27.65 and 15,740 runs at 36.86.

He played in Zimbabwe’s first ever international match, a world cup fixture against Australia.

Zimbabwe sensationally pulled off a major upset in the match, with former England coach Duncan Fletcher making 69* and taking 4/42 on the way to a 13 run win.
