The England Vice-Captain, Ben Stokes, has been arrested the day before the squad is announced for this summer's Ashes Tour.

Stokes was arrested at a Bristol nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning on suspicion of causing Actual Bodily Harm, with a 27-year-old man taken to hospital.

Fellow England played Alex Hales has been questioned by the Avon and Somerset Police over the same incident.

England have withdrawn both Stokes and Hales from their squad to play the fourth One-Day International against the West Indies on Wednesday.

The incident was especially badly timed for the English, who were picking their squad for the Ashes on the same day as Stokes' arrest.

However, Head of Selectors, Andrew Strauss said he has been told by the ECB that they are free to select the squad purely on cricketing reasons of "form and fitness", so Stokes is highly likely to line up against Australia this summer, where you can hear every ball called as Triple M Rocks Cricket
