Australia’s top order has fallen apart a bit in the ODI against Pakistan at the MCG, going from 0/31 to 3/41 in three overs.
David Warner and Usman Khawaja both fell to Junaid Khan, and at 2/40 Australia brought in Mitch Marsh.
It was a baffling decision as Marsh isn’t a top order batsman and can get found out by going too hard at the new ball with hard hands.
And so it proved as he pushed at his first delivery from Mohammad Amir directly to Imad Wasim at short cover.
Naturally fans on Twitter went mental, especially given Marsh has been selected to go to India.
Many were frustrated that he batted in the top four at all, especially above Travis Head who opened last game:
Marsh’s form is also part of a worrying trend:
Was taking him to India a mistake? Hopefully not.
Australia are 3/72 in the 15th over.
