There’s been some classic catches in the Big Bash this season, with Glenn Maxwell and Kevin Pietersen both putting in their bids for best of the season in the Melbourne Derby last night.

However the best catch of the evening was taken by an old bloke in the crowd.

Renegades import Dwayne Bravo flayed a 103 metre six off James Faulkner for six over point — that’s right, a 103m six over point — and the greying bloke in the crowd nonchalantly plucked it as it flew into the second tier.

He celebrated just as casually as he plucked the catch, standing up and showing the ball to all around him.

He was popular with the bloke running the singlet and sleeve tatt next to him, who couldn’t believe what he saw.

His mates were clearly watching, with the phone immediately blowing up:

The Stars went on to win the match — their first victory of BBL07 — after the Renegades could only make 9/144 in response to 4/167.

Kevin Pietersen was awarded man of the match for his destructive 74 off 46, including five sixes.
