Former Australian Wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has revealed the guilt he felt, the one time he didn't walk during his esteemed cricketing career.

Playing in the Australian Institute of Sport's Cricket Academy team, Gilly was given not out despite an obvious nick through to the keeper.

Gilly desperate to impress Australian officials, including Rod Marsh, refused to walk and would go on to make a century, but it was after the game when the guilt started to play on his mind.

"After the game he said 'well played' and I went 'I'm so sorry about that,' Gilly told the Triple M Ashes commentary team.

"He said 'nah don't be sorry, clearly it means more to you then it does to me'.

"That was like a dagger in the heart, I thought 'really, does it?'.

"I will never forget that and maybe that influenced my mind from then on in."
