Glenn Maxwell's late inclusion in the Ashes squad might be to cover for an injury concern...but not just David Warner's.

Reports have emerged that Maxwell has flown to the Gabba as a possible replacement for Shaun Marsh at number six.

Those reports say Marsh has picked up a sore back, which seems to have left him in doubt for the first Test.

Maxwell was said to have flown up as insurance, but just for Warner, who has a neck problem he sustained at training on Tuesday.

Marsh has suffered from back problems at times throughout his professional career.

The 34-year-old was forced out of the Australian side after his first three Tests with a back injury, and also missed the Indian Premier League in 2016 with another back problem.
