Victorian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has sent a message to the Australian selectors, slamming a domineering century in the Sheffield Shield.

Maxwell came out at 3 in the game against New South Wales at North Sydney Oval after opener Marcus Harris fell for nine, and set about making a rapid ton.

He made his first 50 off just 66 balls, including an over from form Test quick Doug Bollinger that went for 15.

Maxwell didn’t slow down at all over the next 50, reaching his ton off 113 balls.

He brought the century up with his 18th four, after hitting Trent Copeland for a straight six as well.

Maxwell’s carried on with his form, moving to 121 off 144 deliveries.

He was overlooked for the number six spot in the Test side, with Shaun Marsh preferred.
