The Gold Coast is to host international cricket for the first time, staging a T20 game between Australia and South Africa.

Cricket Australia has released its summer schedule and it includes the T20 international at Metricon Stadium on November 17, which follows Australia's three one-dayers against the touring Proteas in Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.

Perth Stadium will host a Test match for the first time when Australia host India in the second game of their four-Test series, which starts in Adelaide on December 6.

CA confirmed that it is still negotiating with India's powerful governing body over whether the Adelaide Test can be a pink-ball day-nighter.

With Melbourne and Sydney hosting India for the traditional Boxing Day and New Year Tests, Brisbane misses out on the summer's most high-profile series.

Instead the Gabba will host the first of two Tests against Sri Lanka, a day-nighter from January 24 to 28, with the second at Canberra's Manuka Oval starting February 1.
