Triple M's Greg Blewett has dropped some selection mail ahead of the Big Bash League final, believing Travis Head, Alex Carey and D'Arcy Short will all be freed by Cricket Australia to play.

The trio was snapped up by Cricket Australia to play in the T20 tri-series against England and New Zealand, starting on Saturday night.

But Blewett - the Strikers assistant coach - told Triple M's Dead Set Legends that he has heard all three will fly to Adelaide the next day to play in the BBL final.

Listen to the audio:

"It's not official mail, but obviously we were disappointed last night that we didn't have a couple of our superstars," he said.

"Cricket Australia were good enough to release Travis Head (last night).

"My mail is that Cricket Australia are going to release Travis Head and Alex Carey for tomorrow night's final. They play today in Sydney, then they'll get on a flight in the morning and come back to Adelaide for the final tomorrow night.

"D'Arcy Short will play for the Hurricanes as well is my mail."

But not everyone will be released, with Blewett believing Strikers quick Billy Stanlake will be held back.

"But no Billy Stanlake is my mail, also. The big fella's had a few injuries over his time," he said.

"He'll play tonight and then obviously do his recovery and all that sort of stuff. I think they're probably a little bit worried about him flying the next day and playing the same day."

Blewett believes it's the right decision for all three to play, having all starred in the Big Bash so far.

"There has been a bit of backlash going the last week or so, and rightfully so. It has been a bit of a stuff-up...I think they're doing the right thing," he said.

Jars agreed and was pleased about the trio being freed up.

"That's good that Cricket Australia have done that," he said.
