Brisbane Heat ace Alex Ross believes The Gabba is the loudest stadium in Australia.

The Gabba sold out for a T20 in 2009, then there was a long wait until just two weeks, but tonight will be the third full house in just a fortnight for the Brisbane Heat V Perth Scorchers game.

Heat batsman Ross has been out in the middle while the crowd has been going off, and reckons it’s one of the best experiences he’s had as a player.

“When you’re out on the field it’s incredibly loud, I find it’s the loudest stadium in Australia,” he said.

“Obviously the G (MCG) would be loud with 80,000 but we haven’t managed to get that there yet.

“Adelaide with 50,000 last year was still not quite as loud as the Gabba.”

Fans tend to turn up when their team is going well, and the Heat have been killing it this year – winning four of their five games and sitting first on the ladder.

“It’s a great achievement by the fans, and everyone at Brisbane Heat and Queensland Cricket to pump the games up, and for us to turn on the cricket too,” Ross said.

Ross has been playing well for the Heat, top scoring (64) in their opening match against the Adelaide Strikers, he plays his Shield cricket in South Australia but it doesn’t look like he’ll be making the permanent move north.

“I’m signed up for South Australia for a few years yet, but I absolutely love the place up here (Brissie), and they’re a great bunch of guys,” he said.

“I love being up here and it’s a great two months of the year.”
