After scorching hot 20-something degree weather, England's weather has flipped back to miserable.

And Peter Siddle is feeling it most, needing a beanie while bowling on the fourth day during Essex's County Championship clash with Hampshire.

The weather in Southampton has been so cold and wet that Hampshire's first innings took over the entire four days of play, before Siddle's Essex even got to bat.

And it was only around 10 degrees for the final day, prompting Siddle to return to the bowling crease spotting a brand new beanie.

It seemed to work for him, smashing South African international Rilee Rossouw's bat with his second ball before dismissing him with his fourth.

Siddle tallied 3/62 for Essex from 29 overs in the draw to make it five wickets for the season.
