Jason Behrendorff has marked his return from injury in the most emphatic way possible.

Behrendorff, who missed the entire Big Bash season with a cracked fibula, returned to the Western Australian side for his first domestic match in three months, against Victoria.

And it couldn't have gone any better.

Behrendorff took nine wickets - yes, nine - as he almost single-handedly skittled Victoria for 117 all out.

He took four wickets in his opening spell with the new ball before returning to take the wicket of top scorer Dan Christian (39) and demolish Victoria's tail.

His 9/37 came off 13.2 over and contained five maidens.

It'll go down as the fifth-best Sheffield Shield figures in history, and the second-best ever by a Western Australian.

Only three bowlers (Ian Brayshaw, Tim Wall and Peter Allan) have taken a ten-for in the Sheffield Shield, with only one bowler (Ike Travers) taking nine wickets for less runs.

The most recent of those was Brayshaw's figures from October 1967, making it the best spell in the Shield in 50 years.

The only wicket that didn't fall to Behrendorff?

Aaron Finch, who was out caught Adam Voges, bowled David Moody for 34.
