England opening bat Jason Roy now has the distinction of owning the highest ODI score ever made at the MCG.

Roy plundered the Aussie bowlers from the moment he came in on his way to a barnstorming 180 off 150 balls.

The previous record was held by Mark Waugh, who made 173 against the West Indies in 2001.

Roy hit 16 fours and 5 sixes in his swashbuckling knock, getting to 50 in 32 balls, 100 in 94, and 150 in 126.

As well as being the top innings at the MCG, Roy also broke went past Alex Hales 171 to take the record for the highest score made by an Englishman in ODIs.

It was also the second highest ever score made in Australia in a one-dayer, behind Chris Gayle's 215 against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.

Further to that, it was the second highest score ever made against Australia in an ODI after Rohit Sharma’s 209 in 2013.
