South African quick Kagiso Rabada has been charged with a Level 2 offence for his send off to Steve Smith last night.

Match referee Jeff Crowe charged Rabada ahead of play on day two at Port Elizabeth.

Post

Rabada took Smith’s wicket for 25 after lunch, before celebrating in Smith’s face and brushing him with his shoulder on the way through.

The 22-year-old quick already has five demerit points, and a Level 2 charge could take him to eight.

As a result, he may be suspended for the rest of the series.

The hearing is expected to be held tonight.

Rabada’s 5/96 was influential in rolling Australia for an underwhelming 243 on day one.

In response, South Africa are 1/47.
