A Victorian third-grade cricketer managed the incredible feat of taking a hat-trick and a triple hat-trick in the same innings last weekend.

Playing for Yallourn North against La Trobe, Nick Gooden managed the incredible feat while getting to the incredible figures of 8/17 from eight overs.

As well as the incredible return, he was also involved in a run out for the last wicket.

Unsurprisingly, Yallourn North won the game — they made 118 in the first innings and restricted La Trobe to 62.

Even Gooden was surprised by his feat, saying on Channel 7 that the pitch and some luck helped him out.

"I just roll the arm over, I'm not fast or anything like that," he told Weekend Sunrise.

"I really wasn't bowling very well."

"I started with two wides ... one was a big off-side wide and the other was a big leg-side wide and everyone was laughing at me."

After that it all came together though.

"For some reason I just couldn't miss,” he said.

“I hadn't trained or anything so it was out of control."

In fact, Gooden hadn’t played a game of cricket since December last year.

Pretty bloody handy return!
