Former captain Mark Taylor has stepped down from the board of Cricket Australia amidst cultural turmoil at the governing body.

The move comes just a few days after the resignation of chairman David Peever, with both men leaving in the wake of a scathing review into the culture of CA.

There was some suggestion Taylor may have stood for the position of chairman after Peever’s resignation, but instead he has resigned his own post.

“I’ve just got to the end… over the last 13 years, and particularly the last 18 months, a lot in this role has taken a toll on me,” Taylor said at a press conference today.

“The last two weeks even more so.

“I don’t think I can give anymore and I’ve lost the energy.”

Taylor played 104 Tests for Australia between 1989 and 1999, scoring 7525 runs at an average of 43.49.

Taylor was first elected to the CA board in 2004.
