Australian cricket legend Meg Lanning has gone massive in the Women’s Big Bash today.

Playing for the Melbourne Stars against Brisbane Heat, Lanning opened the batting and smashed 97 off 72 deliveries.

She hit 11 fours and three sixes in the huge knock.

Her score is the second largest in the short history of the WBBL, with only Grace Harris’s 103 in last year’s competition bigger.

Lanning also holds the third and fifth highest scores in the WBBL — 90 against the Heat and 84* against the Strikers, both last season.

The 24-year-old’s innings comes less than three weeks after she slammed 190 for Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League, the competition’s highest score.

Lanning’s knock took the Stars to an imposing total of 2/148.

In reply, the Heat are 3/39 in the ninth over.
