NSW quick Mitch Starc just tore South Australia apart in the Sheffield Shield game at Adelaide Oval, taking 8/72 in the second innings as the Redbacks crashed to 206 all out.

The eight wicket haul is Starc’s best effort in First Class cricket, and meant he ended with 10 wickets for the match after his 2/46 in the first dig.

Starc was unplayable with the pink ball, with his late inswinging yorkers proving deadly.

He bowled Travis Head, Jake Lehmann, Adam Zampa and Chadd Sayers, while Alex Carey was caught LBW.

Starc’s brutal work contributed to a huge collapse for South Australia; they went from 0/137 to all out for 206, meaning they lost all 10 wickets for 69 runs in just under 24 overs.

At one stage they lost 5/18 in 25 balls.

It’s the second time in three days that the Redbacks have been routed, with Trent Copeland taking 6/24 on day one of the game to send them crashing to 92 all out.

Starc’s figures will make uncomfortable reading for the English, with the second Ashes Test in Adelaide set to be played under lights with the pink ball.

South Australia’s collapse leaves NSW needing just 56 to win the first Sheffield Shield match outright.

They are currently 1/14 off 5 overs, with Nic Maddinson out for a duck.

Triple M are rocking the Ashes this summer, with ball-by-bal coverage of every Test! Tune in from the 23rd of November!
