Now they're having a laugh.

Now they're just taking the piss.

The New South Wales squad looked pretty decent for their first game against South Australia last week, a match they won by six wickets.

For their next game against Western Australia on Friday, it just got bolstered.

Sean Abbott - himself an Australian representative - has made way from their recently-announced 12-man squad to make room for Josh Hazlewood, who is returning from a side strain.

That means the Blues will field an attack of Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon - the likely starting four England will have to deal with at the Gabba.

It also leaves Trent Copeland, who also has a Baggy Green and ripped the Redbacks to shreds in the first innings with 6/24 last week, as a likely candidate to make way.

Hazlewood's inclusion is the only change, with 2016/17 leading Shield run scorer Ed Cowan - another Test-capped player - unable to break back into the team.

All up, New South Wales' 12-man squad contains 10 players who have featured in Test matches for Australia.

Only Kurtis Patterson, whose name circled the Test squad last summer, and Daniel Hughes, who has been brought up as a potential bolter for the number six spot for the Ashes, are yet to feature at international level.

NSW squad:

Steve Smith (captain), Trent Copeland, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Nathan Lyon, Nic Maddinson, Peter Nevill, Kurtis Patterson, Mitchell Starc, David Warner

Triple M Rocks The Ashes ball by ball from day one of the first Test in Brisbane, Thursday 23 November.
