Aussie keeping legend Adam Gilchrist is doing his first stint with Triple M Cricket, and has already been cooked by our stats man Ash Chua.

Gilly took a stat that the Chu Man gave him about Nathan Lyon and ran it on British television with disastrous consequences.

“The Chu Man, I’m nervous with his stats,” Gilly said.

“He set me up beautifully yesterday… he gave me a trump of a stat on Shane Warne at the Gabba.”

The stat related to Warnie’s average relative to Nathan Lyon.

“I confidently said Shane Warne only averages 33 out here at the Gabba, Nathan Lyon 27.

“That’s the sort of company this man bowling at the moment keeps… I confidently took that stat down.

“I’m doing a bit of TV work back into the UK, I confidently peeled it off with great rigour.

“Geeze did I cop a belting on Twitter.”

Chu intervened at this point: “Yeah, but Gilly, you’re right!”

“This is where I’ll give you some credit,” Gilly replied.

“He does average 33 at the Gabba… with the bat!”

Chu Man pointed out that Gilly was still technically right.

“That’s the get out clause Gilly!” he said.

“You were right!”

“Nothing like a bit of credibility in the UK,” Gilly said.

“Their first broadcast, they’ve stolen it from Sky over there, this BT broadcast company.

“They just wanted a confident expert opinion on the first day of the Ashes they’ve ever covered.”
