The extent of Peter Nevill's horrific injury last night has been revealed following the news that the Melbourne Renegades keeper won't play again in BBL|06.
Nevill burst a blood vessel in his cheek after he was struck by a cricket bat.
The blow caught Nevill on the cheekbone and match officials were concerned he had been knocked unconscious.
Cricket NSW medical staff are hopeful he will be able to return by the 1st of February for a Sheffield Shield game with the Blues.
The Renegades will be forced to name a replacement wicketkeeper for their do-or-die match against the Brisbane Heat on Thursday.
