Selectors have Glenn Maxwell as a replacement for the injured Chris Lynn for the upcoming on day international series against England.

Instead, Maxwell has been overlooked for his Victorian team mate Cameron White.

Lynn injured his calf almost immediately after being selected for the ODI series, with Maxwell the hot tip to replace him after good form with the bat in the Sheffield Shield and the Big Bash League.

However White’s form in the BBL for the Melbourne Renegades has seen him rewarded with a one day call up.

White has been one of the premier performers in the BBL, sitting second on the run scoring charts with 285 at an average of 142.5.

White has played 88 ODIs for Australia, but hasn’t featured since January 2015.

He averages 34.52 with the bat and 29.25 with the ball in one dayers.

Maxwell’s initial non-selection was due to his average of 22 across the last 20 ODIs, according to selector Trevor Hohns.

Skipper Steve Smith suggested that Maxwell needs to “train smarter”.
