Australian test spinner Stephen O’Keefe has gone full Richard Hadlee in a grade cricket match in New South Wales today.

The left arm orthodox spinner ripped through Campbelltown-Camden’s batting order, taking an eye-watering 9/54 from 29.5 overs with eight maidens.

His wickets included former England test player Monty Panesar.

Even more remarkably, O’Keefe was involved in the only wicket he didn’t take, catching opener Aaron Yabsley off the bowling off Matty White.

O’Keefe’s efforts are reminiscent of Hadlee’s against Australia at the Gabba in 1985 when he took 9/52 and caught Geoff Lawson off the bowling of Vaughan Brown.

O’Keefe’s form comes at a very handy time, with Australia’s squad to tour India set to be announced tomorrow morning at 10am.
