Steve Smith has been so dominant in this Ashes than even a pair of ducks at the SCG couldn’t drag his series average below 100.

Smith has made 604 runs from six knocks in the series so far and has only been out four times, making his average 151.

Even if he were to get out twice for zero runs in the Sydney Test it would make his average 100.67 for the summer.

Smith’s 604 runs has already moved him into the top 20 for runs scored in an Ashes series, with the opportunity to move into the top 10 in Sydney — he needs 77 runs to get past the 680 Don Bradman scored in the 1946/47 series that sits 10th.

Smith also has the opportunity to be come just the fourth man to make four centuries in an Ashes series after Bradman, Wally Hammond and Herbert Sutcliffe if he can ton up in Sydney.

To add even more context to his incredible run, only five men have made more Ashes centuries than Smith’s eight — Bradman (19), Jack Hobbs (12), Steve Waugh (10), Hammond and David Gower (both 9).

He already has as many Ashes tons as Greg Chappell and Ricky Ponting, with several years left in his career.

Is there anything he can’t do?
