A crowd of 20,915 for the third day of the Gabba day/night test has smashed the record for attendance at a non-Ashes Test at the venue.

Today’s crowd follows 26,353 and 23,344 for the first two days, meaning 66,325 have rolled in so far.

The previous record was 55,947, set in 2007/08 against Sri Lanka.

The massive crowd comes just days after Cricket Australia CEO warned that Brisbane is no guarantee for for the opening match of the season going forward after poor crowds.

“We have seen fans vote with their feet to embrace the day-night concept in Queensland,” Sutherland said in a statement.

“We’ve managed to break the non-Ashes attendance record at the venue in just three days and we’re looking forward to even more fans enjoying this fantastic spectacle.”

The Gabba test has also been the first time test cricket has been broadcast on FM radio, with Triple M's commentary team James Brayshaw, Kerry O'Keeffe, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Mick Molloy and others bringing you all the action.
