The curator at the venue of the third Test between India and Australia has admitted that Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be able to choose the pitch he wants for the crucial match.

SB Singh — the curator at Ranchi, set to host its first ever Test — has prepared three wickets for the Test and will allow the team to pick which one they want, according to News Corp.

“Each of them will behave differently. The team will choose the strip two days before the match,” Singh said.

“The pitch will suit both the batsmen and bowlers and will definitely last five days.”

The Aussies have already been confronted with a pitch that earned a “poor” rating from the ICC at Pune, and were rolled for 112 on a treacherous deck at Bengaluru in the second Test.

There’s no specific law against the curator allowing a captain to choose a pitch, but it’s unlikely the Aussies will be happy with the developments in an already ill-tempered series.

The Aussies arrive in Ranchi on Monday ahead of the start of the Test on Thursday.
