Three seats at the Sydney Cricket Ground were yesterday left empty in memory of the victims of Sunday's horror seaplane crash, reports The Australian.

British CEO Richard Cousins and his two sons, William and Edward, had purchased tickets to attend the fifth Test before the aircraft they were travelling in crashed on the Hawkesbury River on New Year's Eve.

Tragically Cousins, his two sons, 25 and 23, his fiancee Emma Bowden and her 11-year-old daughter Heather were killed in the accident.

The plane's pilot, Canadian Gareth Morgan, also died in the crash.

According to The Australian, the three seats in the MA Noble Stand belonging to Cousins remained empty for the entire day of play.

Cousins, the chief executive of the world's largest food catering company Compass Group, was a big cricket fan and had planned his family trip around attending each Test match.

Former English captain Michael Vaughan paid tribute to the 58-year-old businessman following the news of his tragic death.

"Sad to hear of the passing away of Richard Cousins and some family members in Sydney," Vaughan Tweeted. "Great man who loved the game of cricket.

"Thoughts to all his family."
