Pakistan batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have been provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board as part of an investigation into corruption in the Pakistan Super League.

Sharjeel and Latif — who have not been found guilty of anything — will not be allowed to play under the PCB’s anti-corruption code while there is an investigation in to their conduct.

Both batsmen, who play for Islamabad United, have been been sent home from the tournament, which is running in Dubai.

“It would not be appropriate to comment on the specifics of the case, however this investigation is a clear demonstration of our determination to drive corruption out of our sport,” Najam Sethi, chairman of the PSL, said in a statement.

“We will not tolerate any form of corrupt activity and as this investigation proceeds we will not hesitate to take further decisive action as appropriate.”

Islamabad United released a statement expressing their disaapointment.

"We are understandably disappointed at this development but emphasise on our commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards any violations of the rules or stated guidelines," they said.

"We will be looking to find replacements for the squad as soon as possible."

Sharjeel Khan made his Test debut against Australia at the SCG earlier this year, while Khalid Latif has played five ODIs for Pakistan.
