England's Test attack has copped it on their final outing before the first Test in Brisbane, with youngsters Matt Short and Jason Sangha plundering centuries.

Chasing a 265-run deficit in the first innings - England posted 515 in response to the Cricket Australia XI's 250 - the two made light work of it.

After scores of three and five in the previous tour match and a duck in the first innings, Sangha reached his milestone first.

After being stuck on 98 and peppered by short balls, Sangha pulled one away behind square leg for a boundary to bring up a remarkable first class century.

Even better? He's only 18, and is yet to make his debut for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield.

22-year-old Short - who impressed for Victoria in the JLT Cup and is skippering the Cricket Australia XI - reached his next with a drive through the off side.

The two currently sit at 117 not out and 113 not out respectively, with the side sitting pretty at 3/323, avoiding an innings loss.

None of England's three quicks - Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Craig Overton - could find a wicket, with only Moeen Ali (2/80) and Mason Crane (1/77) breaking through.
