Usman Khawaja just became the first bloke to score a ton in the new Sheffield Shield season, crossing the triple figures threshold against Victoria at the Gabba.

Khawaja is the only batsman who’s been able to master the conditions at the Gabba, with the pink ball causing havoc under lights.

Queensland were bowled out for 166 in their first innings, but managed to take the points after rolling the Vics for 148.

The Bulls took control in the second innings though, with Khawaja’s ton from first drop guiding them to 7/297 — a lead of 313 — midway through the first session of play.

Khawaja is currently 112* off 183 balls, having hit 15 fours — stats that will no doubt put him in the box seat to bat at three in the upcoming Ashes.
