Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s abysmal home series against Australia continued this afternoon when he aimed he fell for just six on the third afternoon of the Ranchi Test.

Kohli aimed a booming drive at a full Pat Cummins delivery and edged to Steve Smith, delighting Aussie fans who were furious about his petulant jeering when Australia burnt a review before lunch.

The low score continued a dreadful run for the Indian skipper, who has only scored 46 runs at an average of 9.2 for the series thus far.

He’s yet to score more than 15 in any innings, and his horrific results have forced him to endure the indignity of being the second worst specialist batsman in the series.

His average is lower than Mitch Marsh (12), Steve O’Keefe (9.25) and Mitch Starc (29.5).

He does have Nathan Lyon (3.2) covered though.

The Ranchi Test is evenly poised at present, with India 3/268 in the 90th over.
