Young Victorian all-rounder Will Sutherland has bowled Victoria to victory against Queensland in the opening game of the JLT Cup. 

The 18 year-old took the new ball for the Vics and finished with figures of 5-45 off his allocated 10 overs including the big wicket of Chris Lynn for a duck.

Victoria set the Queenslanders a modest total of 240 with Glenn Maxwell (80) and Nic Maddinson (68) doing the the majority of the scoring.

The Bulls' were brave in their chase but fell just short being bowled out for 227 in the 47th over.

Debutant Max Bryant was a loan hand in the Queensland top order making a swashbuckling 45, while tail-ender Mitch Swepson top scored with a well crafted 77 coming in at No.9.
