Steve Smith has feasted heavily on the English bowling in this Ashes series.
He’s made 687 runs — the 10th most ever in an Ashes series — at an eye-watering average of 137.40.
But in an interview with Neroli Meadows on Triple M Cricket, he admitted that he “got a bit greedy” yesterday when he got out chipping a return catch to Moeen Ali.
Listen to the full interview here:
“I’ve let Shaun (Marsh) come in and take all my runs there,” he joked.
“I got a bit greedy there, trying to hit him through cover, probably could have just hit him for one to the leg side and just continued batting.
“But you know I thought I was hitting them well and these things happen.”
Smith also gave some insight about what the Aussies might do today.
“We’ll see how we’re going,” he said.
“If these guys keep going at this rate, Shaun and Mitch, then it might be earlier than we think!”
