A South Australian jockey has been stood down from all riding with immediate effect and charged with reckless riding after appearing to deliberately run in to other horses.

Josh Cartwright was aboard Senior Council in the last race at Morphettville yesterday when he seemed to angle his horse into the path of other riders.

Part of the steward’s report said:

"The particulars of the charge being that whilst riding SENIOR COUNCIL in Race 8 at Morphettville Parks on Saturday, 14 January 2017 he directed and rode his mount outwards in a reckless manner at an acute angle with the intention of making contact with runners to his outside and in doing so contacted GO THE JOURNEY inside the 200 metres, resulting in that horse being severely hampered and taken out onto HOUSE OF WAX, resulting in that horse becoming severely unbalanced and J. Holder becoming unbalanced and losing his seat, falling to the nearside of his mount before regaining his seat a number of strides thereafter."

Cartwright pleaded guilty to the reckless riding charge.
