Can Red Bull Catch Mercedes?

Not 'if'... but "when..."

It's a question Daniel Ricciardo (and Max Verstappen) fans have to be asking after being left in the dust of the Mercs and Ferraris at last weekend's Australian Grand Prix.

While the Australian failed to complete the race, the young Dutchman was some way off the pace finishing fifth.

Team manager Christian Horner is confident Red Bull only needs to find 0.5s to turn it into a three-way battle with Mercedes and Ferrari for this year's championship.

"To be honest I don't think we're that far behind," Horner said.

"With Mercedes I think we have about half a second to find. Ferrari have been very impressive here and probably had the quickest car. We probably had the third quickest car and we've got to find a good half-second to get into the fight ahead."

Finding half a second EVERY lap won't be easy, but Horner's confident the team can develop the package fast enough to turn the blue cars into Mercedes (and Ferrari) beaters.

"As the regulations are very immature I think things will move quite quickly so I honestly think we'll get ourselves into a competitive situation during this year."
