Daniel Ricciardo let his frustration get the better of him after once again having his Red Bull car fail on him in the US Formula 1 Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Ricciardo was sitting in fourth on the ninth lap of the race when his car conked out on him — his fifth DNF in 10 races.

Ricciardo was fuming as he was led off the track, and later “put his fist through a wall”, according to Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

“It was a crying shame for Daniel and I feel so sorry for him,” Horner told Sky after the race.

“It looks like the identical power issue from Bahrain.

“He was driving a strong race, it’s so frustrating for him.”

Ricciardo has already committed to a post-season switch to rivals Renault amongst rumours about his relationship with Red Bull.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen won the race ahead of Ricciardo’s team mate Max Verstappen and drivers championship leader Lewis Hamilton.
