Will He Be The Singapore Slinger?

With the European stretch of the season done and dusted, Formula 1 heads for the first of a number of "fly-away events" starting with the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.

It's the only true night race on the calendar and is run on a city street circuit that winds its way around the glittering skyscrapers and hotels of Marina Bay.

For spectators, the Chinese lanterns that line the circuit have become a spectacle of their own and it's not hard to see why many liken it to the Monaco Grand Prix of the East.

While it's not known for serving up thrilling races on track, it's pretty to watch - be it at the circuit or on TV.

And for casual fans, that's probably enough.

But it's never enough for Daniel Ricciardo who fancies this to be one of his biggest opportunities of the season.

With closed corners and twisty city circuits, the dominant Mercs and Ferraris lose much of the advantage they gain in horsepower.

Enter the bulls.

Or rather, the Red Bulls.

Expect some surprises from Daniel Ricciardo and his feisty Dutch teammate Max Verstappen.

If the aerodynamics are dialled in correctly, then it's no stretch to say the Red Bull package should give Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel a run for their money.

Here's Dan previewing the Singapore Grand Prix.
