Can He Go Back-To Back?

It's been a couple of weeks since Daniel Ricciardo pulled off perhaps the most surprising win of his career in a chaotic Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

This weekend it's the picturesque hillsides of Alpine Austria.

Famous for its short, punchy, long straights, it's a place the Red Bull team are fond of because they actually own the track.

Red Bull not only bought the facility and spent millions upgrading it, they also re-badged it the 'Red Bull Ring.'

If that's not enough, there's also a sculpture of a bull overlooking the track at Turns 4, 5, 6 and 7.

So yeah, it's a pretty big deal for Daniel Ricciardo's boys.

But how does he feel about coming here after the madness of Azerbaijan?

"Baku was such a crazy race that it's hard to read too much into the performance side of things," he told redbull.com

"But we were more competitive even when things were more normal on Friday, and I reckon we've made a step."

"At any kind of power circuit like Austria you want to be smooth and get good exits in order to give yourself the best chance on the long straights."

"I really enjoy the track and the only downside is that I wish it was a bit longer. I wish it had a few more corners, but the corners that do exist are great fun."

Ricciardo's under no illusions about the flat out pace of the Mercs.

"They probably still have a chunk of time over us, nobody is denying that."

"But things are getting better for us, and we have a few updates coming for Silverstone and a few again for Budapest."

Silverstone will come sooner than you think, with that race happening the following weekend in a "back to back."

So what else does he like to do while he's in Austria?

"I know we always get on to food (laughs) but I really do look forward to a good Schnitzel. Ooh, I love schnitzel with fresh lemon and cranberry jam; it's so good."

Daniel, who celebrated his 28th birthday during the week, is hoping there'll be a few more races like the one in Baku where the "shoey" tasted sweeter than ever.

"If there's any more craziness to take advantage of, then I'll be in there again."

Check out the video below to see how well Ricciardo and teammate Max Verstappen scrub up on all things Austrian.

The Austrian Grand Prix will be telecast on Fox Sports all weekend.
