Red Bull Rebrand

What's in a name?

Plenty if you're Red Bull Racing.

The Formula 1 team's rebadging for 2018 when it'll run around as the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.

But it doesn't mean the iconic British carmaker will power Daniel Ricciardo.

The title sponsor deal will ensure a Renault remains under the hood, at least until 2019 when the squad could be forced into a switch to Honda.

But these guys are already thinking about 2021 when F1's engine regulations will get an overhaul and an Aston partnership gives the Bulls some options.

The whisper in the paddock is that Aston Martin will power the Red Bulls.

But Aston boss Andy Palmer is a man who plays his cards close to his chest.

"The power unit discussions in Formula 1 are of interest to us, but only if the circumstances are right," he said.

"We are not about to enter an engine war with no restrictions in cost or dynamometer hours but we believe that if the FIA can create the right environment, we would be interested in getting involved."

For now, it's all the badges on the car with the title sponsorship similar to the one Red Bull had with another luxury car maker Infiniti, until 2013.

Money talks too.

A title sponsor lowers the bills for running a team that's had to deal with the loss of prize money to frontrunners Mercedes and Ferrari.

Daniel Ricciardo should be pretty chuffed.

It means he'll continue to have access to sweet rides like this one he took on an epic drive around Los Angeles last year.

And who can argue with that?
