Aussie legend Daniel Ricciardo has won the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang — and celebrated with another shoey.

Red Bull team mate Max Verstappen and Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg joined Ricciardo on the podium before he performed his trademark celebration.

Ricciardo started from fourth in the grid, behind both Rosberg and Verstappen, while Mercedes’Lewis Hamilton started from poll.

Hamilton dominated the first 2/3rds of the race, opening up a 23 second lead before a dramatic engine failure forced him to retire after 41 laps.

Hamilton’s blow out has significant ramifications on the Driver’s Championship — before the race Rosberg was ahead of him 273-265; the points Rosberg scored today now gives him a 23 point lead.

Meanwhile Ricciardo took advantage of the situation to take the lead and never relinquished it, with Red Bull happy to allow he and Verstappen to take the 1-2 finish.

It was Ricciardo’s fourth career win, and his first since the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix.

The result means Red Bull are second in the Constructor’s Championship, their 316 points a whopping 222 behind Mercedes’ 538.

Ferrari round out the top three with a 301 point haul.

Ricciardo — third in the Driver’s Championship on 204 points, 61 behind Hamilton — will have a chance to close the gap on the Mercedes duo next week in the Japanese GP at Suzuka.
