Security has been ramped up at the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix after a Mercedes team minibus was held up at gun point.

None of the tam were in hurt in the robbery, but some valuables were stolen.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton said shots were fired during the attack.

The governing body for motor sport, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile confirmed that security will be stepping up in Brazil after the incident.

“The circuit has informed all of the events stakeholders that the Sao Paulo police force has taken additional measures after these regrettable incident,” the FIA said in a statement.

“Heavy police reinforcements will be on duty for the remainder of the event.”

The FIA also recommended removing car park passes when leaving the circuit and to avoid wearing branded clothing that identified media employees.

Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas will go into the Brazil race in pole position, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen in second and third.

Aussie Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo will start 15th after incurring a 10-place grid penalty.
